Hi Tony, we have moved to france and brought our 1996 Audi with us. How do we go about getting it registered here (is it possible?)? Thanks

Answer:

Hi Janice

Thank you for your question.

It is quite complicated registering your Car in France, once you get a certificate of conformity "In French" from the manufactures then all should be plain sailing. You have to decide it it is financially worth doing as it is quite expensive, the cost of changing the headlights can be as much as €500.00 so it is worth finding a cheap option such as a breakers yard and get some second hand ones. The certificate of conformity is at least €130.00 Control Technique €70.00 registration at the Prefecture €100 plus depending on the Car and number plates €30.00.

This is a link to one of the best websites that explains the procedure; http://www.frenchpropertylinks.com/essential/registering-car-France.HTML

Good luck

Tony
