Organised by Tate Britain in London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the exhibition is meant to honour the artist who was born 100 years ago and died in Madrid of a heart attack in 1992.

Some of Bacon’s most famous work on display include Three Studies for Figures at a Base of a Crucifixion (1944) and the series Study after Velázquez’s Portrait of Pope Innocent X (1950s).
