MADRID - A suspected ETA member wanted by Spanish police since 2001 has been arrested in the French town of Hendaya, close to the Spanish border, French authorities disclosed Tuesday.

Ainhoa Adín, a 36-year-old woman, is wanted in connection with the murders of three people, including two police officers between 1994 and 1997 when she allegedly formed part of the Basque terrorist group's Ibarla cell. Investigators believe that she fled Spain in March 2001.

She was arrested at 6am yesterday when police raided her home in Hendaya where she had apparently lived for several years. Spanish authorities suspect that she may recently have joined ETA's military wing, supplying cells with explosives to bring into Spain to commit attacks.

Adín was among 19 ETA members on the Spanish Interior Ministry's most-wanted list.
