SEVILLE - The Ferias de Sevilla got off to a watery start on Tuesday as downpours caused the official opening day line-up of bullfights to be cancelled.

The week-long April fair is held in the Andalusian capital two weeks after Holy Week each year. The fair dates back to 1847 and has become one of the most festive weeks in the city.

Carriages transport prominent families to the bullring each day, while temporary tents become the thriving social centres for traditionally dressed Spaniards to eat, drink and dance.
