WARNING: Red alert issued for heatwaves in Andalucia

Heatwave warnings have been issued across Andalucia following extreme temperatures of over 40 degrees celsius.

A red alert has been issued in Cordoba after temperatures soared to 44.5C on Sunday.

Granada experienced 40C while Sevilla recorded a high of 40C.

The blistering heat is increasing the risk of forest fires, with warning levels being placed as ‘extreme’ and ‘high’.

The temperatures are predicted to stay in the 30’s despite the expected thundery showers this week.
