Kylie Minogue to perform for Madrid’s gay pride

Australian pop star Kylie Minogue will perform a free open air concert next month during Madrid’s gay pride festivities, organisers said Friday.

The 42-year-old “All the Lovers” singer will take to the stage at the Plaza de Espana in the heart of the Spanish capital after the gay pride parade, one of Europe’s largest, on July 3.

“I am really very touched. For a long time now I have had a special relationship with the gay public and I am pleased that they are counting on me to celebrate such a special occasion,” she told Shangay, a bi-monthly magazine geared to the gay market.

Minogue has been dating Spanish model Andres Velencoso, 32, since 2008 and is a frequent visitor to Spain.

Madrid’s pride parade features dozens of floats, many of them from corporate sponsors, and it draws hundreds of thousand of revelers. It caps off a week of festivities that include outdoor concerts and dancing.
