Barcelona rents out Camp Nou for EUR 40,000 a day

12 February 2008

MADRID – Whoever wants to feel like Lionel Messi or Ronaldinho, at least for a day, will soon have a chance: Barcelona is renting out Camp Nou for EUR 40,000  a day.

"The initiative comes from the club’s marketing department and is aimed at companies and organisations who wish to offer a unique experience to their workers or associates," daily El Pais reported Monday.

The price includes the possibility of summoning 35 people to play in the two teams, the services of a referee, the use of the stadium speaker system to call out the team line-ups and a diploma for participants that says "I played at Camp Nou."

Besides, the "tenants" will receive a complete Barcelona kit with their names on the shirts and a cocktail will be served for them at the stadium after the game.

There are extras that require more money. Each additional player costs another EUR 600, the official bus goes for EUR 800, playing at night adds EUR 2,800 and taking home a DVD of the game would set you back an additional EUR 6,000.

And if you want spectators, they too have a price. Each would be required to pay EUR 60, although they would get to see the game from the presidential box and to share the cocktail with the stars of the game.

According to El Pais, Barcelona will rent out Camp Nou after the last home game of the season, against Mallorca on 11 May, and until 19 July, when Bruce Springsteen is scheduled to play at the stadium. The club will then proceed to change the grass.
