BRAUNSCHWEIG – Germany’s aviation-safety agency is reviewing the landing rights granted to Flash Airlines, the Egyptian operator of a Boeing 737 that crashed in the Red Sea the previous day with the loss of 148 lives.
“The company has had landing rights here since September 2003. Till now there has been no negative information about them,” Cornelia Eichhorn, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Agency in Braunschweig, said.
“On safety grounds, a review of their landing rights has been ordered,” she said.
Egyptian and French officials have ruled out terrorism and said it appeared that a technical fault led to the crash of the Flash Airlines on Saturday morning shortly after taking off from Sharm al-Sheikh en route to Paris.
