The number of people in Germany sickened by a mysterious killer bacteria is still growing, the national disease institute said Wednesday.

Confirmed cases of the full-blown disease has risen from 373 reported on Tuesday to 470, the Robert Koch Institute said.

The figures relate to official numbers for Monday and Tuesday respectively.

Local officials say 15 people have died of full-blown haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS), a condition associated with bloody diarrhoea and kidney failure, since the outbreak started in mid-May.

Sweden has also reported one death, a woman who had recently travelled to Germany.
