German annual inflation official 1.3 percent in October

German 12-month inflation was 1.3 percent in October and showed a 0.1-percent rise over the September level, official figures showed on Tuesday.

Energy prices, which 5.1 percent from October 2009, were the principal drivers of inflation last month, the federal statistics bureau Destatis reported.

The European Central Bank's preferred annual inflation level is just under 2.0 percent.

German has the biggest economy in the eurozone and in the European Union.
