Eastern Germans Losing Faith in Democracy: Voter Apathy Could Help Far-Right in State Election

The eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt is holding elections onSunday, but turnout is expected to be below 40 percent. Voters have been turned off by the lack of debate between the two largest parties, the CDU and SPD, which appear content to continue with their governing coalition. The far-right NPD could benefit as a result of the growing disenchantment with democracy.
