There are a number of schools in Frankfurt and the surrounding area for parents to consider. We understand that there is no more important decision that parents make than ensuring their children receive the best education possible. While there are many factors critical in choosing a school, this article addresses a partial list of what makes Frankfurt International School unique from other schools in Frankfurt and beyond. FIS is the only age three to grade 12 international school in Frankfurt Rhine-Main with the following characteristics:

1. FIS is the only international school that is a non-profit association governed by a Board of Trustees elected from the school’s parent population.

2. Our school helped found the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme more than 40 years ago, with the first IB graduates in 1972.

3. FIS is proud to have the highest average IB scores in the region, including four perfect scores in 2015 and two consecutive years with an average IB Diploma score of 36 (2015 and 2016).

4. We are the only IB school that does not have local students as its highest percentage of enrolment. Instead, we welcome students of over 60 nationalities.

5. Because of its size, FIS can offer the widest range of academic courses.   
6. The Council of International Schools has chosen FIS as the school in the Frankfurt region to host its tour of more than 30 colleges and universities from around the world to assist students with the college selection process. 
7. Unique to FIS is a separate, purpose-built early childhood facility for students ages 3–7 that meets their unique learning needs in a safe and specialised environment.  
8. FIS competes internationally through the International Schools Sports Tournament, fielding highly competitive teams in 11 sports over three seasons.

9. FIS has the largest offering of languages in addition to English, with Korean, Dutch, Swedish, Japanese, French, German and Spanish also taught within the school day.  
10. The Rosetta Stone language learning software is offered to students in grades 2–12, making an additional 20 languages available for independent study.  
11. The after-school activity program is the largest of its kind, with over 100 different offerings for students and parents throughout the school year.

12. FIS employs its own full-time Transportation Director to manage a fleet of over 40 buses that serve the entire Frankfurt Rhine-Main region. 
13. The Upper School Writing Centre is devoted to promoting and encouraging writing skills.  
14. Our school is proud to call itself a family-oriented school with the highest number of active parent volunteers, with four unique parent associations that support general school activities, athletics and the performing arts.
