Switzerland's unemployment rate reached 3.7 percent in July, with nearly 150,000 jobless people.

Geneva -- Switzerland's unemployment rate climbed to 3.7 percent in July from 3.6 percent in June, official figures showed Wednesday.

The total number of jobless people reached 145,364, up 5,111 from June, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs said in a statement.

Switzerland expects its unemployment rate to reach 3.8 percent in 2009 due to the economic crisis, sharply up from 2.6 percent in 2008.

To deal with the tough economic climate, Bern in July approved a third stimulus package which includes measures to tackle growing unemployment.
