BEIJING - The uniform of the Chinese team for the Beijing Olympics in the nation's yellow and red has been dismissed by internet bloggers in the country.

"It reminds me of the tomato and scrambled eggs dish," one blogger was quoted as saying in the China Digital Times.

Comments ranged from "I was shocked" to "There can't be any worse suits." Users also named the uniforms for the 639 athletes old- fashioned and rural.

The uniforms were unveiled last week when the team was nominated.
Male athletes wear yellow shirts, red blazers, white trousers and white shoes. Women wear yellow blazers, red shirts, red scarves, white skirts and white shoes.

"When the Chinese delegation comes out, they will certainly catch the eyes of the audience," designer Liu Ruiqi said when the uniforms were unveiled.
