Swiss archaeologists have unearthed a treasure trove of 293 silver celtic coins in Fuellinsdorf, near Basel, in what an official described Thursday as the country's biggest ever archaeological find.

"This is the find of the century," Urs Wuetrich, who heads the local cultural department, told a news conference.

The small coins are believed to have been buried between 70 and 80 BC.

There was no immediate word on the value of the find, which was put on temporary display at the Liestal museum.
