BELGIUM -- Last week's strike by baggage-handlers Flightcare and Aviapartner at Brussels International Airport had cost EUR 1 million.

The strike continued for three days. Thousands of suitcases got stranded at the airport and dozens of flights had to be cancelled, leaving big numbers of passengers stranded.

Most travellers returned to the airport to collect their suitcases themselves.

The strike also damaged the reputation of the airport in Zaventem.
