BELGIUM - The Dutch police and coastguard are still searching for a man who was swept overboard from a boat in the Western Scheldt estuary on Thursday.

Belgian Air Force Seaking helicopters from Koksijde Air Base are also helping the Dutch search for the man from Antwerp.

It is not clear what had caused the accident which took place on Thursday afternoon.

The man was not wearing a life-jacket when he was swept into the estuary, just off the coast of Breskens (Zeeland).

Sonar tracking equipment is being used in an effort to locate the man, although hope that he will be found alive is fading.

A woman and a child who were also aboard the boat are reported to be safe and well.
