- This position requires a Master degree, or equivalent through experience.
- A minimum of 10 years commercial and technical experience is required with previous experience in purchasing or a technical field in the chemical industry. Previous experience in a sales or account management role in a similar environment will also be considered.
- Previous experience in executing major commercial negotiations and contract developments.
- Previous experience of working within a diverse, multicultural team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of other languages (for example, Dutch) is an asset.
- Capability of handling strategic partnerships as well as commodities.

- The role will involve occasional travel throughout Europe for site and supplier visits.
Reporting to the Senior Purchasing Manager you will manage the B-Side category for our Purchasing Shared Service Group. You will also manage the development of market intelligence and develop purchasing strategies for the designated categories, in addition to supporting large purchasing projects in the field of Raw Materials. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and self-motivated candidate, committed to driving improvements and maximising profit, efficiency and performance.
Additionally, you will have :
Purchasing Activities :Determine, develop and deploy vision and an approved plan for the category.Act as the lead buyer for specific Corporate Projects.Responsibility for strategic sourcing management for the categories with focus on TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), taking into account the specific business requirements.Leading or supporting cross-functional and cross-regional teams with focus on early buy-in of business stakeholders.Negotiating and concluding contracts.Accountable for the implementation and communication of global/regional contracts.Executing ‘value tracking’ and defining budget and budget follow up for global/regional contracts.Responsibility for commercial supplier interaction with key suppliers.Defining and executing (for relevant categories):Purchasing strategy.Supplier segmentation.Internal Stakeholder satisfaction improvement actions.Contract optimization actions.Supplier performance evaluation and improvement actions.Monitor complaints.Follow up reporting, contract management, KPI’s.
Market/Process Intelligence : Having in place and keeping up to date Market Intelligence re fundamental market drivers for major material streams, such as Polyether, Polyesters, Silicones and Catalysts and delivering concise senior management reports
Value Delivery – cost down : Delivering on-going annual savings as agreed through the annual tracker process (typically in excess of USD 1.5 million).Savings are achieved by understanding the markets and developing strategic options including the maximum use of global, regional and business specific synergies as well as conducting a professional commercial purchasing job.
