Van Rompuy meets Reynders and Milquet

13 September 2007

BRUSSELS – Herman Van Rompuy, charged by the king with seeking a solution to the impasse surrounding the government formation talks, spoke this morning with CDH chairperson Joëlle Milquet and MR chairman Didier Reynders. No progress has been made regarding the problematic Brussels-Halle-Vilvoorde voting district, a priority for Van Rompuy.

The meeting today was the last for this week. On Wednesday Van Rompuy met with the Flemish parties. It looks as if there will be few talks before next Monday.

Didier Reynders, still outgoing finance minister at the moment, will be in Porto to take part in the European meeting of finance ministers in the coming days. The Walloon Festivals are on the agenda for Saturday and Sunday is the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Francorchamps.
