Two Dutch jihadist suspects arrested in Brussels

Two Dutchmen of Turkish descent were arrested Thursday on suspicion of links with jihadist activists, the Belgian prosecutor’s office said.

The two were detained on arriving at Brussels airport from Turkey. A police search turned up arms and propaganda material, the prosecution said.

The pair were identified as Dutch residents who travel regularly to Belgium.

They are suspected of taking part in and financing terrorist activities as well as violating gun legislation.

Dutch police working with their Belgian counterparts searched four homes in The Hague on Wednesday evening in connection with the detention of the two.
