13 August 2007

OSTEND – The Ostend Film Festival, which will take place for the first time this year, will be presenting almost 50 premieres of films, television series and games.

Jane Birkin will be on hand to introduce “Boxes,” the film she has based on her own life. She plays a role in it, as does her daughter Lou Douillon and famous names like Michel Piccoli, John Hurt, Geraldine Chaplin and Natacha Regnier.

New episodes of 16 television series will also be presented, including an episode of “The Simpsons”. There will also be a special focus on Belgian film during the event.

The Ostend film festival takes place from 5 to 11 September. It will open with the film “Control” by Dutch photographer and director Anton Corbijn, whose film is a biopic of Ian Curtis, lead singer of legendary British rock band Joy Division in the late 1970s.
