Crèche killer also responsible for murder of elderly woman?

On 16 January a 73 year old woman was found dead in her home in the East Flemish town of Beveren. She had been stabbed to death.

The judicial authorities of Dendermonde were puzzled by the murder and had no trace of an assailant or a motive. It was not a case of robbery. The woman was murdered in cold blood but nothing was stolen.

The woman’s husband was at a neighbour’s house at the time of the murder. He was questioned for hours but no possible leads were found.

The authorities now think there could very well be a connection with Kim De Gelder.  The federal police say that there are strong indications that there is a connection, but are not releasing further details at the moment.

The 20 year old has been charged with three counts of murder and 12 counts of attempted murder.
