Six officers of the Belgian federal police corps are on their way to Morocco. Their trip is connected to the Belliraj case. Abdelkader Belliraj is a Moroccan Belgian who is suspected of terrorism.
The reason for the visit is to prepare the arrival of a rogatory commission from Belgium. The commission will reportedly leave shortly, and it may interrogate suspects in the case.
Abdelkader Belliraj will stand trial in Morocco on charges of involvement in terrorism. According to the Moroccan authorities he committed six murders in Belgium.
Last Friday it was revealed that Belliraj was also a paid informant for the Belgian national security department.

Abdelkader Belliraj, who lived in Evergem, a town just north of Ghent, is said to have been an occasional informant who was paid in return for tip-offs.
In defence of the intelligence service, Flemish Christian democrat senator Hugo Vandenberghe said they weren’t supposed to know since all details on secret informants are supposed to be just that, a secret.
The police trade union Sypol regrets that so much confidential information has been leaked to the general public in the case.
Abdelkader Belliraj was arrested in Morocco in February along with 34 others. According to the Moroccan authorities, Mr Belliraj has confessed to having committed six murders in Belgium.
