Belgian fighter jets fly first Libya mission

Belgian F-16 fighter planes Sunday flew their first mission over Libya as part of the international coalition and took action against a ground target, the defence ministry said.

The ministry said in a statement there was “no collateral damage”.

A ministry source quoted by Belga news agency said “the target was hit”.

It was the first mission flown by Belgium which has contributed six F-16s, stationed at Greece’s Araxos airbase.

Sunday marks the ninth day of the coalition campaign in Libya.
