3 Belgians hurt in Israeli bombing

17 July 2006

BRUSSELS — Three Belgians were slightly hurt during an Israeli bombardment of their residence in Chtaura in the Lebanese Beka’a valley, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said on Monday

The victims were identified as a father from Brussels, his daughter and sister. They were not hospitalised.

The Belgian embassy is now trying to bring the three Belgians back to Beirut. The embassy is also drawing up a list of Belgian nationals who need to be evacuated.

The attack took place on Sunday night. Some 25 people were killed in Israeli attacks on Monday, including nine Lebanese soldiers, AFP reported.

In total, 164 civilians have been killed and 410 wounded since the Israeli offensive started on 12 July.

The attacks were sparked after Hezbollah kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others along the Israeli-Lebanon border.
