Question:

Hi Gregory

I was wondering if special tax regime has anything to do with applying for Belgian citizenship if I stayed for more than 5 years as I’ll be considered nonresident from the tax point of view.

Kind Regards

Answer:

Dear Mohamed,

No, the non-resident tax status has nothing to do with your immigration status as a resident. As long as you are subject to income tax and social security in Belgium, this would be sufficient to show your integration for immigration purposes.

Kind regards,

Gregory
