Question:

Hello Arent:

I am located in the US and I am employed by PearlChain which is a Belgium company. They have not paid me for my final payment and they have terminated most of the US employees. there is no communication and they owe me approximately 18 days of pay. Is that legal in Belgium?

Answer:

Hello,

I would need more detailed information to answer you correctly.

Certainly it is not legal.

There are two options:
- based on US labour law
- based on Belgian law

In any case the company should receive a default notice, and await their respons.

If you wish my firm can help you further. It would even be more efficient if several ex employees acted together. And if this was dealt with in Belgium.

I see that PearChain.net has undergone some changes in Belgium too.

Feel free to contact me.

Kind regards,
Arent Lievens
