A South African court Wednesday postponed a civil case against the spokesman for the ANC youth league who is charged with hate speech for calling a journalist "white bitch" in a text message.

Floyd Shivambu, who is currently suspended, made the comment to Carien du Plessis in May by when she asked him for comment.

The magistrate requested that both parties make their sim cards available for the case, which will resume April 24, 2012.

"We should make provision for experts who may be required... and a forensic expert... to view the cellphone and check the sim card," Du Plessis' lawyer Richard Moultrie, told SAPA news agency.

Shivambu allegedly sent Du Plessis a text message saying: "You must learn to respect people..." "I wouldn't want to earn respect from white bitches... so dream on."

She is suing him for 100,000 rand (12,475 dollars).

Shivambu is one of the youth league officials who were suspended with their leader Julius Malema after a disciplinary hearing by the ruling party committee in November.
