WikiLeaks holds London news conference
The WikiLeaks website was preparing Saturday to give a news conference in London after it released hundreds of thousands of classified US military documents which give a grim snapshot of the Iraq war.
WikiLeaks' founder Julian Assange was to speak at the event in a central London hotel after his website released nearly 400,000 pages of classified documents spanning five years, the largest military leak in history.
Many of the classified documents chronicle claims of abuse by Iraqi security forces, with many appearing to show that US troops witnessed the mistreatment but did nothing to intervene.
As the news conference started, Assange and another four members of the panel were surrounded by a scrum of photographers.
