Sarkozy arrives in Tripoli for joint visit with Cameron: AFP
French President Nicolas Sarkozy arrived in Tripoli on Thursday for a joint visit with British Prime Minister David Cameron following the fall of Moamer Kadhafi's regime, an AFP correspondent said.
The two men are the first Western leaders to visit Libya since Kadhafi fled in August in the face of a massive rebel assault backed by NATO air strikes that were called for and largely carried out by France and Britain.
Sarkozy, accompanied by his Foreign Minister Alain Juppe, was to meet officials from the National Transitional Council and visit a Tripoli hospital before heading for the eastern rebel fief of Benghazi.
