Prince Charles to visit Washington in May
Prince Charles will make an official visit to the United States next month, just days after his son Prince William's wedding, where he will meet US President Barack Obama, his spokesman said Thursday.
Charles, the heir to the British throne, will visit Washington from May 3 to May 5, shortly after his eldest son William marries Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey on April 29.
In addition to meeting Obama, the prince, who produces a line of organic, sustainable food from his Duchy of Cornwall estate, will give the keynote speech at a conference on sustainable agriculture at Georgetown University.
The spokesman said that as British and US military jets join international action to enforce a no-fly zone over Libya, Charles will also attend an event to support British and US armed forces deployed overseas.
He last visited the United States with his wife Camilla in January 2007, taking in Philadelphia and New York, and was last in Washington in November 2005.
