Mother, five children killed in British house fire
A mother and five of her children were killed on Saturday when a fire tore through a house in London, emergency services said.
Around 30 firefighters fought the blaze which broke out at the property in the Neasden district of northwest London at around 1:00 am (0000 GMT) and took around two hours to bring under control.
Muna Elmufatish, 41, and five of her children aged 14, 13, nine, five and two died in the fire, London's Metropolitan Police said.
The father, 51-year-old Bassam Kua, and a 16-year-old daughter escaped from the blaze and were being treated in hospital, police said.
Local police commander Matthew Gardner told reporters at the scene that the fire was not being treated as suspicious.
"Our thoughts and sympathies go out to the friends and families of the victims who now have to come to terms with this terrible loss of life," he said.
