Man and woman shot dead in Northern Ireland: police

Northern Ireland police on Monday opened a double murder investigation after a man and a woman died of gunshot wounds at a house in the town of Craigavon, County Armagh.

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland appealed for witnesses to come forward after the couple were found at a flat in the town's Legahory Court area at around 1800 GMT.

According to BBC news reports, the man was in his forties and the woman was his girlfriend.

It is not yet known whether the murders, which occurred in the south of the country, were sectarian in nature.
