London's Gatwick prepares to handle A380 superjumbo
London's Gatwick Airport will become only the third British airport to accommodate Airbus' huge A380 superjumbo after winning planning permission to house the carrier, the airport announced on Monday.
"Now that Gatwick has the go-ahead to commercially operate the A380 it can ramp up its discussions with airlines that currently operate them and with airlines which have placed orders for them," the airport said in a statement.
Gatwick is Britain's second busiest airport after Heathrow, which along with Manchester airport in northwest England, are the only two other British airports able to accommodate the A380.
