A court handed down Friday a 10-year prison term to a Hungarian man for the 2008 axe murder of British former model Eva Rhodes in a pay dispute.

Csaba Augusztinyi admitted killing Rhodes, then 65, who employed him at an animal shelter she ran in the western village of Bony near the Austrian border in September 2008.

Following an argument over his wages Augusztinyi hit Rhodes in the head several times with an axe and then tried to cover up the killing by stealing cash and a laptop computer and burning her body.

Police recovered her remains in April 2009.

Prosecutors said they plan to appeal as they consider the sentence too lenient.

Rhodes' career as a model in the 1960s included working with John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

Rhodes was born in Hungary in 1943 but fled to Austria in 1956, before emigrating to Britain in the sixties where she became a model and actress, playing in John Lennon and Yoko Ono's film "Rape".
