InterContinental Hotels says profits up 54 percent

InterContinental Hotels Group said on Tuesday that its net profits jumped by 54 percent in the third quarter.

The company, which owns the InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn chains of hotels, said profit after tax increased to 103 million dollars (74 million euros) in the three months to September 30 from a year earlier.

Sales jumped five percent to 421 million dollars.
