Gay couples stage mass kiss in London pub protest
Dozens of gay couples staged a mass kiss in London on Friday night in protest against a pub accused of booting out two men for their public displays of affection.
They had intended to stage a "kiss-in" inside the John Snow pub in the district of Soho, the centre of the gay scene in the capital, but the owners shut the doors and the demonstration proceeded noisily outside.
It was organised after two men, Jonathan Williams and James Bull, claimed they were ejected from the pub on Wednesday and accused of being "obscene".
"Although much of London is gay-friendly, the apparent discrimination against Jonathan and James shows that pockets of prejudice remain, even in gay Soho," said activist Peter Tatchell.
