Eurotunnel suspends reservations ahead of weekend strike

A planned strike has forced Eurotunnel to suspend ticket reservations for this weekend, the company said Tuesday, affecting holidaymakers on one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

The industrial action on Saturday and Sunday is set to affect cross-Channel travel between Calais and Folkestone but Eurostar trains will run as normal for the moment, unions said.

Four unions lodged a strike notice Friday over pay.

"At 6:00 pm on Friday August 19 we chose to suspend reservations," said Eurotunnel.
