Bulgaria says Somali pirates have freed British-flagged ship
Somali pirates have freed a British-flagged ship, the Asian Glory, hijacked on January 2 with a crew of 10 Ukrainians, eight Bulgarians, five Indians and two Romanians, the Bulgarian foreign ministry said Friday.
"Asian Glory was freed from pirate captivity. The information has been confirmed by the ship's owner (London-based) Zodiac (Maritime Agencies)," the ministry said in a statement.
The ship is expected to leave for Oman under escort from a British military vessel, it added.
The Asian Glory was hijacked in the Somali Basin, roughly 900 nautical miles north of the Seychelles and 600 miles from the pirate-plagued coast of Somalia.
