British vote reform 'no' campaign sure of victory: results

British voters have overwhelmingly rejected changing the electoral system after the number of "no" votes in a referendum passed the required threshold of 9.87 million on Friday.

After results from 404 areas out of 440, 11.47 million voters had rejected changing from the current first past the post system to the Alternative Vote system, in which candidates are ranked according to preference.
