British pilot, Nigerian engineer killed in oil plane crash
A light aircraft owned by a Nigerian oil services firm crash-landed Tuesday during a test flight in the north of the country, killing its British pilot and Nigerian engineer, officials said.
"We learnt that the pilot of the aircarft who was a British national and the Nigerian engineer were killed in the accident," the director general of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mohammed Sani Sidi, told AFP.
The names of the two victims were not disclosed.
The accident occurred when the aircraft was landing at the airport in the northern city of Kaduna.
"A light plane owned by Shawa Engineering Ltd., an indigenous oil company, crashed in Kaduna," Yushau Shuaib, the spokesman for NEMA earlier said.
"The pilot and the engineer died," he told AFP.
The plane was on test flight after routine maintenance.
