British official inflation hits 17-month high

Twelve-month inflation in Britain surged to a 17-month high point of 3.7 percent in April, official data showed on Tuesday.

The rate compared with inflation of 3.4 percent in March. Analysts had forecast a rise to only 3.5 percent in April.
