British men deny murdering teenager in racist attack
Two British men on Friday denied murdering black teenager Stephen Lawrence 18 years ago, in a high-profile case of a racist attack that shocked the country.
Gary Dobson, 36, and David Norris, 34, will face trial on November 14 after pleading not guilty to the murder charge at the Old Bailey court in London.
The men, from London, appeared via videolink from Belmarsh prison, southeast London.
Lawrence, an 18-year-old student, was stabbed to death at a bus stop in southeast London, on April 22, 1993.
Lawrence's mother Doreen, 58, was in court for Friday's brief hearing.
Dobson stood trial for the murder in 1996 in a private prosecution and was cleared. But in May the Court of Appeal quashed his acquittal and ordered a retrial, saying substantial new evidence had come to light.
