British film 'Neds' wins top prize at San Sebastian festival

A film by British actor and director Peter Mullan, "Ned", won top honours on Saturday at the San Sebastian film festival.

The jury, headed by Serbian director Goran Paskaljevic, awarded "Neds" the Gold Shell for Mullan's portrayal of life on Glasgow's mean streets in the 1970s.

The prize for best director went to Franco-Chilean film-maker Raoul Ruiz for his movie "Misterios de Lisboa".

The best actor award went to young British actor Connor McCarron for his leading role in "Neds" while Spain's Nora Navas won the best actress prize for her part in "Pa Negre".
