A British charter plane with 213 people on board made an emergency landing in Athens on Monday after receiving a bomb threat, the city's airport said.

"The plane landed 15 minutes ago and is undergoing inspection," an airport spokeswoman told AFP.

"The aircraft will be inspected followed by passengers and their luggage," she added.

The Boeing 757-200 operated by Thomson Airways was en route from Bristol to the popular Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh, the spokeswoman said.
