British-Yemeni engineer shot dead: oil official
Unidentified gunmen on Saturday shot dead a British engineer of Yemeni origin working for a Canadian oil firm in Yemen's southern Hadramawt province, an oil industry official told AFP.
A security guard and a driver were wounded in the same attack near Mukalla, the provincial capital, the source added, naming the dead engineer as Hamdi Askar Ali Hassen.
"Unidentified gunmen fired on a car owned by the Canadian oil company Calvalley Petroleum Inc, which was en route to Mukalla airport," the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The engineer was killed, and the driver and guard wounded, the official added.
Police confirmed the attack and toll, but without elaborating on the identities or nationalities of those involved.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Yemen is a a minor oil producer, with a daily production of 300,000 barrels.
