British Petrofac signs deal to develop Algerian gas fields
British oil and gas group Petrofac signed a 1.2-billion-dollar (830,000-euro) deal in Algiers Monday with In Salah Gas for the development of gas fields in the Sahara, the Algerian press agency said.
In Salah Gas is a joint venture between Algeria's Sonatrach, British Petroleum (BP) and Norway's Statoil.
The contract concerns the development of gas fields in Hassi Moumene, Garet el Befinat, In Salah and Gour Mahmoud in south Algeria, the agency said.
Sonatrach has proposed investing about 63 billion dollars between 2009 and 2014 on enhancing its gas exportation capacity.
