Britain undershoots annual borrowing forecast: official
The British government has undershot its borrowing target for the fiscal year after requiring a smaller than expected amount in March, official data showed on Thursday.
The state's public sector net borrowing stood at £18.6 billion (21 billion euros, $30.1 billion) in March, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said in a statement.
Analysts had forecast borrowing of £19.1 billion in March, according to a poll by Dow Jones Newswires.
The data means that in the 2010/2011 fiscal year the public sector borrowed £141.1 billion, below the £145.9 billion requirement forecast by the Office for Budget Responsibility in March.
