Britain condemns 'barbaric' Iraq car bombings
Britain has condemned as "barbaric" a series of bombings that tore through Shiite neighbourhoods of Baghdad on Tuesday, killing at least 63 people.
"I condemn the horrific series of attacks in Baghdad tonight, and my thoughts are with the friends and families of those killed and injured," said British Foreign Secretary William Hague in a statement.
"Those responsible for these barbaric bombings do not care for the future of Iraq and its people. They are intent only on provoking tension and conflict."
At least 285 people were also injured when 11 car bombs rocked the Iraqi capital amid concern that Sunni militants are taking advantage of a persistent power vacuum seven months after an inconclusive general election.
