Boeing says American Airlines orders 35 737s
American Airlines has ordered 35 Boeing 737 aircraft, Boeing said Wednesday, a deal worth 2.7 billion dollars (2.1 billion euros) at catalogue prices.
"The airline has exercised options for an additional 35 Next-Generation 737-800s," the US manufacturer said in a statement at the Farnborough International Airshow.
"The order is part of American Airlines' ongoing fleet renewal plan, replacing MD-80s with fuel-efficient Next-Generation 737s."
The medium-haul 737 competes with the A320 manufactured by the European group Airbus.
